Doctor Who - Attack of the Cybermen Novelisation,
published 1989 Doctor: 6
featuring
the Cybermen, Lytton, Peri
Adapted
by Eric Saward from a script by Paula Moore.
Informed guess Takes
place on Telos in the future, and in Shoreditch, self-dated 1985 CE. These are
more time-travelling Cybermen. Bates and Stratton are humanoids with very
Tellurian – well, British – surnames, who seem to have been aboard a commercial
time machine when it was hijacked by Cybermen. We know from Return of the Living Dead that the Time
Lords sanctioned recreational time travel for the Navarinos: possibly this is a
similar arrangement, although the fact that the Cybermen hijacked the flight
demonstrates the inherent risk of permitting non-serious time-travel.
Hawksmoor, Peter Ackroyd's 1985 novel of a satanist architect and his malign influence on contemporary London sits so well in Second War of Heaven lore that it may be reasonably be supposed to have been a an influence on it (Lawrence Miles published Alien Bodies twelve years later). But its idea of London as locus of occult psychogeography relates it to Doctor Who very organically anyway.

contemporary to broadcast Takes place on Space Station Camera and in Seville,
Spain. These are the tallest Sontarans we have ever seen, positively spindly.
Perhaps they were grown from cloned cells in a zero-gravity environment,
resulting in physical elongation.

replaced them.
