Then: The Early Nineteen Teens
Written
by Ian Farrington.
Takes place in Mayfair; self-dated May 1910 CE.
The 1964 film Mary Poppins is difficult to leave out of any examination of Mythic London as a subject of Doctor Who narrative. Set in spring 1910, its monumental artificiality - to the point of an American robin singing in the Thames valley – only reinforces its sense of London as a dream realm. Ms Poppins herself appears in the last volume of Century and definitely qualifies, in The Tides of Time terms, as a higher evolutionary.

Featuring Rose, with Destrii (glimpse)

Takes place in the forest of Mormal, Belgium. Historically, the British
army retreated through and around the forest in late August 1914 CE. Captain
Rotmund shouldn’t be wearing his Husar’s dress uniform in the front line, but
in the first month of the war I suppose he could just about have gotten away
with it. Sadly, Destrii seems to have gone back to her old ways in consorting
with the Warfreekz, unless she is travelling through time with her uncle before Bad Blood.
