Then Again: The Late Fourth Millennium
Absolution Audio drama, released 1999 Doctor:
0
featuring the Zygons
Written by Paul Ebbs.
Takes place on Ganta 4, more than nine years after 3487 CE; dated 3502
CE by Parkin in Ahistory.
The Collector Comic story,
published 2010 Doctor:
11
Featuring Amy
Written by Oli Smith.
Takes place on the Nebulon Colony; self-dated
3515 CE.
The Fate of Krelos and
Return to Telos
Audio drama, released
2015 Doctors: 4, with 2 (glimpse)
Featuring the Cybermen, Jamie, Leela, K9 I
Written
by Nicholas Briggs.
Informed guess This
story seems to be a causal loop, beginning and ending on Krelos, a couple of
centuries after The Tomb of
the Cybermen.
Trap for Fools Audio short story, released 2018 Doctor: 5
Featuring Turlough
Written by Stephen Fewell.
Informed guess Takes place at St Neot’s Refuge, founded in 3016 CE. It is intended as
an anologue for Eton College, founded in 1440 CE, some five hundred and seventy
years before the story’s release. I am assuming St Neot’s has been around for
the same length of time.
The Collection Short story,
published 2002 Doctor:
Unbound
featuring Irving Braxiatel, Benny
Written by Peter Anghelides.
Informed guess Takes place on KS 159; ends a thousand years after
the early twenty-seventh century CE.
Last Man Running Novel,
published 1998
Doctor:
4
featuring Leela
Written by Chris Boucher.
Informed guess Takes place in a Tellurian colony system some time
after at least two waves of colonisation.
Art Attack Comic story, published 2005 Doctor: 9
Featuring Rose
Written
by Mike Collins.
Informed guess Takes place in the Oriel Gallery, on Earth; self-dated the
thirty-seventh century CE.
The Fate Of The
Earth
The
Earth has recently emerged from World War Five.
The Vampire Plants Comic story, published 1969 Doctor:
2
featuring Jamie, Zoe
Written by the World Distributors Annual 1970 crew.
Informed guess Takes place on a terraformed Venus, after
Tellurians have achieved intergalactic travel.
The Report Short
story, published 2007 Doctor:
7
featuring the Time Lords, Ace, Hex
Written by Gary Russell.
Informed guess Takes place on an unnamed Tellurian colony,
considerably more than sixty years after settlement. Actually, there is nothing
to suggest that the “indigenous” inhabitants of the planet are not themselves
descended from Tellurians, suggesting two waves of colonisation. I have
consequently placed it not too far in time from Last Man Running.
The Sands of Life and War Against the Laan
Audio
drama, released 2013 Doctor:
4
Featuring K9 II, Romana
Written by Nicholas Briggs.
Informed guess Takes place on Earth, which is ruled by a President, including north
Africa and London; and technology is not too advanced, but Tellurian space
extends across the galaxy, and the Daleks have apparently been unknown for some
time, so I am assuming the fourth millennium CE.
The Dream Masters Illustrated short story, published 1967 Doctor: 2
featuring Polly, Ben
informed guess Takes place on Dorada; Placebo Effect presents
Doradans at an implicitly later point in their history.
The Dalek Contract and The Final Phase
Audio
drama, released 2013 Doctor:
4
Featuring the Daleks, K9II, Romana
Written by Nicholas Briggs.
Informed guess Takes place on Proxima Major, not long after
The Sands of Life and War Against the Laan.
Old Friends Comic story,
published 2019 Doctor: 13
Featuring the
Time Lords, Graham, Ryan, Yaz
Written by Jody Hauser.
Informed guess Takes place on Devivian and elsewhere. The Doctor remarks that Star
Whales will be all but extinct in a few centuries, and the last known one is
featured in The Beast
Below, so I am placing it a few centuries before
that.
Inertia Audio
drama, released 2020 Doctor:
Unbound
Featuring the Time Lords, Benny
Written by James Goss.
Arbitrary placement Takes place on an unnamed
planet.
Unnatural Born Killers Comic story, published 1999 Doctor:
0
featuring the Sontarans, Kroton the Cyberman
Written by Adrian Salmon.
Informed guess Takes place on an unnamed planet inhabited by
humanoids, some considerable time after Ship of Fools, given the
development of Kroton’s personality and vocabulary.
Sleep No More TV story,
broadcast 2015 Doctor: 12
Featuring Clara
Written
by Mark Gatiss, script supervised by Steven Moffat.
Informed guess Takes
place above Neptune; self-dated the thirty-eighth century CE.
The Volcanis Deal Illustrated short story, published 1983 Doctor: 5
featuring Turlough
Written by the World Distributors Annual 1984 crew.
Informed guess Takes place in the Ilium system, some considerable
time after 3024 CE.
The Sons of Kaldor Audio drama, released
2018 Doctor:
4
Featuring Leela, Kaldor
Written by Andrew Smith.
Informed guess Takes place on Kaldor, obviously before Checkmate, and therefore, by sequence before The Robots of Death; but there is no reason why it should not take place after Crisis on Kaldor.
Doctormania Comic story, published 2016 Doctor: 9
Featuring Rose, the Raxacoricofallapatorians, Captain Jack, with Harry, Mickey (glimpse)
Written
by Cavan Scott.
Takes place
on Gharusa Prime and Clix; self-dated 3764 CE.
The Snag Finders Comic story, published 2007 Doctor: 10
Written by Trevor Baxendale.
Takes place above Earth; self-dated 3769 CE.
Doctor Who - The Chase Novelisation of a TV story, published 1989 Doctor: 1
featuring the
Daleks, Barbara, Ian, the Marie Celeste thing, Vicki, the Mechanoids, Steven
Adapted by John Peel from a
script by Terry Nation, script edited by Dennis Spooner.
Takes place at various
points in space and time, including the north Atlantic and Ghana; Richard
Marston dates the launching of the Dalek mission as 3773 CE in the Dalek
Chronology. This is plausibly how long it might take the
Daleks to get a working time machine after examining Trod technology after The
Trodos Ambush. Peel tells us that at this point Skaro is ruled by
the Dalek Prime, the first Dalek to roll off the production line in Genesis
of the Daleks. I speculate that it took over Dalek society
following the death of the Emperor in The Exterminator.
They
Were Chancing Their Arm
...calling the planet
Aridius, and not expecting it to dry up.
A Klytode Christmas Comic story,
published 2007 Doctor:
10
Featuring Martha
Written by Trevor Baxendale.
Takes place in London; self-dated Christmas 3781
CE.
The Fate Of The Earth
London, or this city of that
name, is now on the coast. Oxford Street is still a shopping centre, however.
A Device of Death Novel, published 1997 Doctor:
4
featuring Sarah
Jane, Harry, with the Time Lords (glimpse)
Written by Christopher
Bulis.
Takes place in the
Adelphine Cluster; dated 3800 CE by Parkin in
Ahistory.
A Yuletide Tale Short story, published 2004 Doctor:
7
featuring Ace
Written by Dave Stone.
Informed guess Takes place on Dickensworld at Christmas. A
profoundly non-humanoid race opening a theme-world based on Tellurian culture
suggests post-imperial nostalgia.
The Curse of Peladon TV story,
broadcast 1972 Doctor:
3
featuring the
Ice Warriors, the Alpha Centaurans, Jo, with the Time Lords (informative
mention)
Written by Brian Hayles,

dated 3885 CE by Parkin in Ahistory.

The Heroine, The Hero and the Megalomaniac Short story, published 2005
Doctors:
7,
8
featuring Charley,

family, plausibly First Empire aristocracy, have been interstellar magnates for
“a thousand years”.

Featuring Rose, the Raxacoricofallapatorians,

long-lived.

Mark Wright.
Takes place on Peladon, say
thirty-seven years after The Curse of Peladon.
The Twist Comic story,
published 2016 Doctor:
12

century CE. Hattie leaves linear time, being aboard the TARDIS when it
dematerialises.

Eight; dated 3950 CE by Parkin in Ahistory.
Tea With Cthulu Charity short story, published 2001 Doctors: 7, Unbound
featuring Roz,
Chris

story, published 1994 Doctor:
7
featuring Ace, with Braxiatel (informative mention)

The Destroyers Audio
adaptation of an unproduced script, released 2010 Doctor: 0
Featuring the Daleks, Sara Kingdom
Adapted by Nicholas Briggs and John Dorney from a script by Terry Nation.
Takes place in Tellurian space, “many years” before 3999 CE, according
to The Guardian
of the Solar System; say, over a decade. Skaro
is located “in the eighth galaxy”: the planet has been navigable since at least
Invasion of
the Daleks: I assume it is currently
parked in a satellite galaxy of Mutter’s Spiral.
Memories of a Tyrant Audio
drama, released 2019 Doctor: 6
Featuring Peri
Written by Roland Moore.
Informed guess Takes place on the Memory Farm, in Tellurian space. Kennedy is a member
of the Space Security Service, so I am placing this near The Daleks’ Master Plan.
Policy to Invade Short story,

7
Written by Ian Mond.
Takes place in Tellurian space; self-dated 3994 CE.
The Pirate Loop Novel,

The Outlaw Planet
Illustrated short story, published 1966 Doctor: 0
featuring the Daleks, Sara Kingdom, with Mars, Venus,
the Outer Solar System (informative mention)
Written by Brad Ashton and Terry Nation.
Informed guess Takes place on Barzilla, not long before The Daleks’ Master Plan. Barzilla, suffering from famine, is well within
the Solar System, being a mere twenty-two million miles from Earth. Perhaps it’s
being used as a refugee camp or something.
Placebo Effect Novel,
published 1998 Doctor:
8
Featuring
the Wirrrn, Sam, Stacey, Ssard, with the
Kleptons, the Trods, the Ice Warriors, the Draconians, the Chellonians
Written by Gary Russell.
Takes place principally on
Micawber’s World, between the orbits of Pluto and Cassius (the Solar System is
getting quite crowded); self-dated July 3999 CE. I am assuming that the Tees,
Professor MacTaggart’s creations, are actually the Trods, liberated from the
Daleks.
Sara Kingdom: Space Security Agent Comic story, published 1966 Doctor: 0
