Earth seems to be back in the Solar System. Its humanoid population have been transferred to Mars, then Pluto, and are on the verge of returning to Earth.

Why I Respectfully Disagree With Lance Parkin’s Dating

I think Mr.Parkin was assuming that anything to do with Earth had to take place before The Ark, but The End of the World definitely demonstrates otherwise. The regeneration of minerals thing certainly seems to require this sort of timespan.
