edited by Robert Holmes.
As broadcast. The Doctor has regenerated for a
third time. Harry boards the TARDIS.
Junior Doctor Who and the Giant Robot Short story adaptation, published 1979 Doctor : 4
featuring
Lethbridge-Stewart, UNIT, Benton, Sarah
Jane, Harry

Doctor Who and The Ark in Space Novelisation, published 1977 Doctor : 4
featuring
Sarah Jane, Harry, the Wirrrn
Adapted by Ian Marter from a script by Robert
Holmes, from an idea by John Lucarotti.
As broadcast. The TARDIS console has been
redesigned.
The Wirrrn are a spacefaring insectoid
species. Some quirk of evolution causes them to wear their six limbs like a
straggly bow-tie while apparently shuffling about on the bottom of their
abdomens. In fairness, they seem to spend much of their time in zero-G, where they
have no weight to take with any part of their anatomy. I am using Ian Marter’s
spelling because of course I am.
Doctor Who and The Sontaran Experiment Novelisation, published 1978 Doctor : 4
featuring
the Sontarans, Sarah Jane, Harry

Novelisation, published 1976 Doctor : 4
featuring
the Cybermen, the Vogans, Sarah Jane,
Harry, with the Time Lords (informative mention)
Adapted by Terrance Dicks from a script by Gerry
Davis, edited by Robert Holmes.
As broadcast. The Time Lords send the TARDIS to
meet the Doctor, suggesting that his defeat of the Cybermen is what they wanted
to achieve.
Return of the Daleks Comic
story, published 1975 Doctor : 4
featuring the
Time Lords, the Daleks, Sarah Jane
Written by Martin Asbury.
Informed
guess Takes place in
space. Harry is not travelling in the TARDIS, so for the Doctor and presumably
the Time Lords, this takes place after Doctor Who – The Revenge of the Cybermen. These are
time-active Daleks, so their location in time is unrelated to their location in
Dalek history. The Time Lords are located on the planet Jewel: this may be a
less or more formal name for Gallifrey, like Scotland and Caledonia.

As broadcast. Takes place partly in regional
England.
The Brain of Morbius TV story, broadcast 1976 Doctor : 4
featuring
Sarah Jane, the Time Lords (informative mention)
Written by Terrance Dicks and Robert Holmes.
As broadcast. I assume it takes place
contemporaneously with the Time Lords, because there is no suggestion that
Solon has time travel and in any case it is contemporary Gallifreyan society
that Morbius will be interested in.
Doctor Who and The Brain of Morbius Novelisation, published 1977 Doctor
: 4
featuring
Sarah Jane, the Time Lords (informative mention)

control room.
Doctor Who and The Hand of Fear Novelisation, published 1979 Doctor : 4
featuring
Sarah Jane
Adapted by Terrance Dicks from a story by Bob Baker
and Dave Martin, edited by Robert Holmes.
As broadcast. Sarah Jane leaves the TARDIS.
The Deadly Assassin TV
story, broadcast 1976 Doctor : 4
featuring
the Time Lords, the Master
Written by Robert Holmes.
As broadcast. The Doctor is by default elected Lord
President of the High Council. There is a suggestion here that the Chronarchy
is by this time two million years old, and this fits other evidence quite well.
In Lungbarrow, it is stated that Quences
lived about seven thousand years, and there is no suggestion that his life was
abnormally long or short. He is the four hundred and twenty-second Kithriarch
of Lungbarrow: assuming he and his predecessors ascended to the position about
a third of the way through their lives, this gives us about two million years.
In The Gallifrey Chronicles it is stated that there
have been one hundred and fifty-three thousand, eight hundred and forty-six
Time Lords altogether, meaning they have been loomed at a rate of about one
every thirteen years, suggesting there are under five hundred and fifty at any
time; but are all fifty of Lungbarrow’s cousins actual Time Lords? Are most of
them? There have been just over four hundred Presidents, suggesting an average
term of five thousand years. Actually, perhaps Quences was unusually
short-lived: an average lifespan of thirty-thousand makes all these figures
more comfortable.

Holmes.

: 0
featuring
the Time Lords, Leela

Takes place on Gallifrey immediately after The Invasion of Time. Leela is sentenced to
death, but from later stories the sentence is evidently not carried out.
Perhaps K9 One negotiates on her behalf, offering to become their agent.
K9’s Finest Hour Comic story, published 1979 Doctor : 4
featuring
K9 II, ?the Vardans, and the Sontarans
(informative mention)
Written by Steve Moore.
Informed guess: The Doctor is travelling
with K9. The Sontarans pursuing the Doctor may be contempraneous with the ones
who invaded Gallifrey (and the humanoids working for them may be Vardans,
particularly as they seem skilled in sub-atomic beam technology).
Affirmative! Illustrated short story, published 1991 Doctor
: 7
featuring
K9 I, and Leela (glimpse), and the Time
Lords (informative mention)

of the Key to Time. Takes place in regional England.
K9 and the Time Trap Illustrated
short story, published 1980 Doctor
: 0
featuring
the Time Lords, K9 I, ?Omega
Written by Dave Martin.
informed guess: K9 One, working for the
Time Lords, confronts Omegon in a contemporary Gallifreyan time frame. Omegon’s
story is identical to Omega’s, so we may conclude that Omegon is Omega. Or
perhaps a version of Omega from another timeline: if there are several of
these, it might explain his persistent habit of returning from the dead.

Factor and Doctor Who and the Destiny of
the Daleks.

: 4
featuring
K9 II, Romana, Adric
Adapted by Andrew Smith from his own script, edited
by Christopher H Bidmead.
Takes place on Alzarius. The TARDIS scanners show
contemporary Gallifrey, so despite taking place in E-Space, this is in some
